You'll find a variety of music here at Mansfield 1st, from contemporary worship to traditional hymns. We have some gifted musicians who want to embrace all that God is doing through the music ministry of the church.
We are so thankful and excited to have our new worship leader join the team here at Mansfield 1st, along with his wife, Lori, and his family.
Kerry grew up in Geneseo, Illinois and went to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where he met his wife Lori. He grew up playing and singing and leading worship in the church where his dad was the music director. At Moody, he and Lori led worship for the student missions fellowship. They have been married 24 years by the grace of God, and now have six crazy children. Kerry has led worship in a number of churches through the years and dreamed of doing it full time. Though he committed his life to Christ at a young age, he later found the mercy and grace of Jesus to be very real through a devastating time. He definitely has a song to sing!
No matter what type of music you like, our worship leaders will always be reminding the congregation that, “Jesus must increase and we must decrease.” (John 3:30) It is all about Jesus, and not about us.
Paul writes to the church in Rome:
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your whole lives to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:1-2 NLT)
Singing songs is one of the ways we can respond to God. We can sing songs that simply praise God for who He is. We can sing songs that are thankful for His forgiveness, and we can sing songs that declare our need for Jesus to be near. The goal of our music ministry is to provide an environment where anyone can come and easily respond back to God.
Our worship ministry is in transition, so if you play instruments and/or sing and you like to worship with contemporary Christian praise or traditional hymns, we'd love to find a place for your gifts.
